Company Profile Xsight Systems Ltd is a high-technology company specializing in electro-optical and radar sensing technologies, and was established to develop and commercialize advanced sensor systems for airports and for transportation, security and safety applications. In developing FODetect™ and future solutions, our overall goal is to enhance passenger safety, prevent collisions and damage to equipment, and in the process, increase airport capacity by contributing to more efficient and safer airport operations. Xsight's flagship product is FODetect®, an innovative system for continuously monitoring civil and military airport travel surfaces (runways and taxiways) and detecting Foreign Object Debris (FOD). Direct damage to aircraft and delays caused by FOD are estimated to cost the aviation industry over $4 billion each year. To date, visual runway inspection a few times each day and regular sweeping has served as the standard means of minimizing FOD damage.  In the wake of the Concorde crash in June 2000, which was caused by a metal strip that had fallen from another aircraft five minutes earlier, Xsight's founders began work on early versions of FODetect® in 2001. FODetect is the only system available on the market that is capable of automatically detecting FOD between runway movements as would  have been required in the case of the Concorde, and is the only solution offering a combination of radar and image processing for reliable detection of FODs. FODetect® has undergone a successful pilot installation in Tel-Aviv's Sde Dov airport, and has been selected by Massport - the Massachusetts Port Authority for installation on a runway in Boston's Logan airport, and is participating in a new technology evaluation the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Xsight's vision is to deliver reliable and real-time automatic alerts to the operator, and to provide the ability to see any point on the runway any given point in time from close range without any occlusions and without impairment due to distant placement of cameras.
